ERP update study 2022/2023

Abstract

The rising costs of operating business software make it difficult for companies to reliably estimate the costs of operation, including those of updates. A study conducted in winter 2022 on ERP system update projects in German-speaking countries helps companies to better estimate the costs of update projects based on various parameters and thus to be able to holistically assess the benefits of update projects. The study analyses the motivation for carrying out updates, the challenges that arise, the scope of update projects and user satisfaction. Information on the system used and the company was also requested in order to be able to evaluate other factors influencing the project.
